Jonathan Delano

Jonathan Delano recently concluded his second year as an assistant coach for the University of Pennsylvania men's soccer program.

Delano helped oversee two All-Ivy honorees in his first season in University City, guiding the Quakers to their first .500 season since 2013.

Delano arrived to Penn after spending the past five seasons at Harvard, most recently in the role of associate head coach. His tenure featured the second-most Ivy League wins over the past five years in the history of Harvard soccer, and in 2015, Delano was named the NSCAA East Region Assistant Coach of the Year.

With the Crimson, Delano developed six professional players in four years including two MLS players, one second division player in Spain, two USL players, and one second division player in Australia, in addition to working with 2017 MLS SuperDraft pick, Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu. Delano oversaw 19 All-Ivy honorees in his five years with Harvard.

Prior to his stint in The Bay State, Delano boasted a successful career at Dominican University ini San Rafael, Calif. A 2003 graduate of the institution, Delano began is coaching career as an assistant at his alma mater, along with coaching local high school and club-level teams. He was elevated to head coach of the Dominican women's team in 2006 and garnered two California Pacific Coast Conference Coach of the Year awards.

As a result of his success with the women's program, Delano was elevated to director of soccer in 2009, putting him in charge of both the men's and women's teams in their first year competing at the NCAA Division II level. Delano also had stints as the director of athletic development at Dominican, and the head men's and women's golf coach.

As a student-athlete himself at Dominican, Delano competed in both soccer and basketball. He was born in nearby Santa Rosa, Calif., and is married to the former Tobey Glazier, a former swimmer and water polo student-athlete at Bucknell.
